Child Wise: Needs assessment

Abuse is the greatest threat to a child’s future. Child Wise is Australia’s leading child protection charity working towards the prevention of child abuse. Child Wise’s main goal is to build the capacity of individuals, communities, organisations and governments to protect children. To achieve this goal we would like to open a dialogue with medical professionals to strengthen the safety net against abuse within our community.

We aim to determine the knowledge base of General Practitioners in relation to recognising the signs and symptoms of abuse and understanding the avenues which are available to assist in enquiries and reporting.

The online survey which consists of 10 questions can be accessed through the link below. It should take no longer then 10 minutes to fill out and your participation would be greatly appreciated:

From this research we are looking at developing resources that protect children from abuse, decrease the likelihood of child abuse going unreported and equip doctors with the knowledge of how to identify and respond to sexual abuse. The information collected through the needs assessment will therefore be available for General Practitioners, Child Wise and the greater community to use to increase the awareness and prevention of child abuse.
