An Italian community forum for Italian residents in the City of Moreland - Diabetes Australia – Vic and Merri Community Health Service will be holding an Italian speaking diabetes forum on Wednesday 30 March, 2011. The forum will include information about diabetes and diabetes management. Guest speakers will include Catherine Prochilo, Diabetes Educator from DA – Vic; Dr Dominic Barbaro, Lalor Medical Clinic and Mr Rocco Di Vincenzo, practising dietitian. The forum will be held at Coburg Library, Cnr Louise and Victoria Streets, Coburg, between 9.00am and 1.00pm. Diabetes Australia – Vic offers OzDAFNE
A five day diabetes education program designed for adults with type 1 diabetes who are not on an insulin pump. This comprehensive small group program covers topics such as carbohydrate estimation, insulin adjustment, physical activity and the management of illness and hypoglycaemia, as well as allowing participants to share their experiences of type 1. OzDAFNE has been shown to improve blood glucose control, lessen severe hypoglycaemia, and improve quality of life. The next OzDAFNE course will commence on 28 March 2011.
