DoH - Immunisation and Cold Chain Breaches
The Department of Health, Immunisation Program will be available, with the exception of the public holidays, throughout the Christmas and New Year period to offer advice on Cold Chain Breaches in your vaccine fridge.
Prior to leaving the clinic please ensure the fridge door is shut securely or locked and that the power point has a sign over it "DO NOT turn off or disconnect this vaccine fridge"
If your service suffers a cold chain breach over a weekend or public holiday please remember to follow the golden rules:
• Do not use or discard any vaccine prior to receiving advice from the Immunisation Program
• Place a large sign on the fridge to alert others not to open the door or use vaccine
• Identify the cause of the breach and address this
• Complete the cold chain breach notification and action forms which can be down loaded from the Immunisation Program website at www.health.vic.gov.au/immunisation
