Children 6 months of age to less than 10 years of age require 2 doses of Panvax H1N1 vaccine.
Time has run out for these children to receive a second dose of Panvax H1N1, 4 weeks after the first dose and before the stock expires. A child who has previously had one Panvax H1N1 dose, 4 or more weeks previously can still complete their second dose in September.
Final stocks of Panvax H1N1 vaccine in multi-dose vials are due to expire at the end of September.
No further stock of Panvax H1N1 will be available to order from 1st October 2010 for any person.
Either Vaxigrip or Influvac seasonal influenza vaccines should now be used in children 6 months of age to less than 10 years of age who require 2 doses of influenza vaccine this year. Administer the age appropriate
dose/s.
Please discuss with the parent the benefit of influenza vaccine, with the risk of febrile convulsion, in children under five years of age prior to vaccination.
