DoH: Victoria's Heatwave Framework

Clinicians are an important source of health information to the community. In relation to heat health, they have a valuable role in identifying patients who may be at risk, providing heat health information and in some cases, diagnosing and managing heat-related illness.

As part of Victoria's heatwave framework, the Victorian Department of Health has provided resources containing heat health information. The resources (being mailed to practices - week ending 27Feb2011)  include:

  • posters (also available in other languages)
  • information brochures (also available in other languages)
  • a fact sheet for clinicians
  • a telephone script template to assist staff when speaking with patients during the heat.

These resources as well as the revised Heatwave plan for Victoria can be ordered using the order form at no cost, or downloaded from www.health.vic.qov.au/environment/heatwave.
