Important Mental Health Alert to all GPs and Practice Managers – new Medicare item number for GPs who have not completed Level 1 Mental Health Skills Training:
DoHA have just introduced the new Medicare item number for GPs who have not completed accredited mental health skills training from 1 January 2010. From the 1st January 2010, GPs who have not completed this training will be unable to bill a MBS item 2710, and will instead need to claim a MBS item 2702. Any incorrectly submitted claims will be rejected by Medicare.
