As many of you may have already heard, the budget announcement last week indicated impending changes to claiming MBS item 2710 for completion of the GP Mental Health Care Plan. Each GP wishing to claim the current rate of reimbursement for the item 2710 will be required to have completed some form of Mental Health Skills training, formerly Level 1.
A new item will be introduced for GPs who have not completed the training, and while the requirements of this item have not yet been announced, we understand it will be a lower reimbursement.
We are awaiting confirmation from the Department as to when this change will take effect and of any proposed changes to Level 1 accreditation.
