RCH: On the Move in 2011

RCH on the Move in 2011 The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) will be on the move at the end of 2011.

Construction of the new RCH, which has been built right next door to the current site in Parkville, is on track and planning for the move is now well underway. To ensure the smooth transition to the new building, the RCH has developed a Move Plan in consultation with the Department of Health, the new RCH Project consortium, staff and families.

The Move Plan will ensure that in the lead up to, during and after the Move:

  • hospital activity is managed appropriately
  • safety of patients, staff and continuity of service remains a key priority
  • patients, families, GPs and other stakeholders are briefed prior to the Move as part of an overarching communications plan.

The target date for the Patient Move Day is 30 November. Following an initial assessment of demand for services it has been agreed that inpatients will be moved in one day mid-week in daylight hours. A clinical team will be formed to move patients You will receive more updates about the new RCH in the lead up to the Move. In the meantime you can get more information at www.newrch.vic.gov.au
