The new standards highlight a range of safety and quality issues significant to general practices offering video consultations with Australian registered and based medical specialists. They are an addendum to the RACGP Standards for general practices (4th Edition). These standards were developed in response to the July implementation of Medicare rebates and incentives for practice conducting video consultations for patients in regional, outer metropolitan and remote Australia, as well as patients in residential aged care facilities or Aboriginal medical services anywhere in Australia.

Accreditation identifies quality and safety in general practice based on the Standards developed by members of the general practice profession.
Accreditation will help your practice increase efficiency, reduce risk and stay curent with trends and best practice. Benefits include:
The process of accreditation recognises and rewards practices providing high quality, continuing, comprehensive and whole patient care in well organised and safe environments through the Practice Incentive Program (PIP).
Although many GP's already provide high quality and safe services, the process of accreditation allows a general practice to improve and enhance organisation and management of its services by identifying areas for improvement in a systematic and objective manner.
MGPN offers a comprehensive Practice Accreditation Support to GP's and practice staff in preparing for the accreditation or re-accreditation process.
